Practical Fire Warden Training for Your Workplace

Being appointed as a fire marshal involves more than wearing a high-visibility vest or checking rooms during a fire drill.

Your fire marshals need to understand the hazards within their workplace, the precautions that help prevent a fire and the actions they should take if the alarm sounds. They must also understand the limits of their role and know when their priority should be raising the alarm, assisting evacuation and calling the fire and rescue service.

Our fire marshal course turns fire safety theory into practical knowledge that your staff can use in a real workplace.

The training uses clear explanations, workplace examples and operational experience from the fire service. We avoid unnecessary jargon and encourage attendees to ask questions about the situations they may realistically encounter.

Practical fire extinguisher training can be added to an on-site course where suitable.

Online training is available for groups of up to 20 attendees.

Price: From £400 + VAT for up to 20 attendees.

Where site-specific practical knowledge is particularly important, an on-site course may be more appropriate. We can help you decide which delivery method best suits your organisation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at enquires@phoenixfireandsafety.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.

The terms “fire marshal” and “fire warden” are often used interchangeably in UK workplaces. Individual organisations may divide the responsibilities differently, but our course covers the essential prevention and evacuation responsibilities associated with both roles.

There is no single number that is suitable for every organisation. The number should be determined through your fire risk assessment and should take account of the size and layout of the premises, the number of occupants, the level of risk, shift patterns, holidays, sickness and anyone who may need help evacuating.

Please allow up to three hours for the standard course. Bespoke sessions or courses with practical fire extinguisher training may take longer.

There is no universal statutory expiry date for every fire marshal certificate. However, knowledge and workplace arrangements should be kept up to date. Refresher training should be considered periodically and following significant changes to the premises, risks, emergency procedures or a person’s responsibilities.

Yes. We deliver on-site fire marshal training for groups of up to 16 people throughout the UK, subject to availability.

Yes. We provide instructor-led virtual training for groups of up to 20 people. Online training covers the essential theory and allows attendees to interact with the instructor. Practical fire extinguisher use is only available with suitable on-site training.

Fire extinguisher awareness is included in the standard course. A hands-on practical extinguisher session can be added to suitable on-site bookings for £150 + VAT.

The training can support your organisation in meeting its fire safety responsibilities, but no individual course can guarantee overall compliance. Your organisation must also maintain an appropriate fire risk assessment, emergency plan, fire precautions, equipment testing, evacuation arrangements and staff training programme.
