First Aid Training – Emergency, Refresher & Full Courses

Phoenix Fire & Safety specialises in delivering workplace first aid training across the UK. Our courses are taught by operational firefighters who hold Level 3 teaching and assessing qualifications. We provide Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW), a 2‑day First Aid at Work refresher, and a comprehensive 3‑day First Aid at Work course. All training complies with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, is delivered on site to minimise disruption and, follows the recognised learning outcomes for workplace first aid.


Our flexible scheduling, including evenings and weekends, allows you to keep your workforce compliant without compromising productivity. Whether you need basic emergency skills or a full first‑aid programme for higher‑risk environments, our expert trainers will give your team the confidence to respond effectively.

FIRST AID AT WORK COURSES

 

Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) – 1‑Day Course

Price: £550 + VAT (group)  – up to 12 delegates

This one‑day course is ideal for low‑risk workplaces such as offices, retail units and small businesses.  It equips your staff with essential life‑saving skills so they can act confidently in an emergency. By the end of an Emergency First Aid at Work course delegates should be able to:

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of an emergency first aider, including legal and ethical considerations.
  • Assess emergency situations and ensure scene safety
  • Perform basic life support, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
  • Place an unresponsive breathing casualty in the recovery position and monitor their condition.
  • Provide first aid for choking, bleeding, shock, burns, seizures and minor injuries
  • Communicate effectively and complete incident reporting

Duration: 1 day (≈7 hours).  Annual refresher training is recommended.


First Aid at Work Refresher – 2‑Day Course

Price: £1,000 + VAT (group)  – up to 12 delegates

Designed for qualified first aiders whose three‑year certificate is approaching expiry, this two‑day course refreshes knowledge and practical skills.  Learners review core responsibilities and practise life‑saving techniques. Participants by the end of the first aid refresher course, should be able to:

  • Reaffirm their responsibilities as a workplace first aider
  • Assess emergency situations and respond safely, including performing CPR and using an AED
  • Manage unconscious casualties and place them in the recovery position
  • Provide first aid for minor injuries, bleeding, burns, fractures and shock
  • Respond to serious medical emergencies, such as seizures, choking, anaphylaxis and heart attacks
  • Recognise specialised situations, for example electric shocks or extreme temperatures, and apply infection prevention measures
  • Demonstrate competence through practical assessments and scenario‑based learning

Duration: 2 days.  Delegates must hold a current First Aid at Work certificate.


Full First Aid at Work (FAW) – 3‑Day Course

Price: £1,500 + VAT (group)  – up to 12 delegates

Our three‑day First Aid at Work course provides comprehensive training for higher‑risk workplaces, such as construction sites, manufacturing plants and warehouses. It equips designated first aiders with in‑depth knowledge and practical skills. By the end of the first aid at work full 3 day course, participants will learn to:

  • Assess and manage a casualty scene and provide appropriate first aid.
  • Perform basic life support techniques and understand first‑aid health and safety regulations.
  • Treat common injuries, including unconsciousness, shock, bleeding, fractures, burns and scalds.
  • Identify the contents of a first aid kit and apply dressings.
  • Respond to emergencies such as heart attacks, eye injuries and common illnesses.
  • Document and report injuries correctly.
  • Manage incidents safely and maintain infection control.

Duration: 3 days (≈18 hours). 

CERTIFICATION

Successful candidates will receive a First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work certificate, valid for 3 years, issued in an electronic format. This certificate ensures compliance with workplace first aid regulations. It is recommended to undergo refresher training annually.
